She's growing up!

A few months ago my friend asked if I would be ok with Caroline getting her ears pierced with her daughter.  I passed the idea by Shawn and he was not very excited about it at first. I asked some friends what their thoughts were about what age is good and there really wasn't a certain age but I did hear some good stories.  One friend said her parents said when she turned 8 she could get her ears pierced and she was so excited she remembers more about getting them pierced than she did about getting baptized.  Another friend said her parents made her wait until she was 12 or maybe older so she just did it herself at a friends house.  I didn't want it to be a source of contention and to me its not a huge deal, I'll pick other things to make a fuss about.   Plus, she's almost 9, very responsible and it would be so much fun to do it with a friend. I got mine done when I was 19 and all by myself, not nearly as fun.  So we let Caroline decide if she wanted to get her ears pierced and after mulling it over for a few days she decided it would be really fun.  She was right it was super fun and we will always remember doing it.  She went with one of her good friends Ayva for Ayva's birthday.  We picked out earrings, went to dinner, and got some ice cream on the way home.  It was so fun and even better to do it with friends.  Honestly think I needed a night out with a friend more than Caroline.  I really didn't think it was a big deal until she sat in the chair and got it done and now looks a whole lot older for some reason.  She is such a good kid and I'm glad I got to do this with her!

Waiting to get started.

This is after the first ear was done.

Both done, her red little ears!

Caroline and Ayva, such good buddies.

Poodle's Birthday

Thanksgiving is a very busy week around here.  We had Devin's birthday, then Thanksgiving, then Poodle's birthday all in about 5 days.  Its a whirlwind of cake, turkey, Sonic, and more cake.  I love it.  I love getting to make Poodle her cake, it is so much fun and I'm glad we get to celebrate every year.  Thanks for coming again this year and introducing me to Serial, and for just being a great sister.  Happy Birthday Poodle!

Thanksgiving 2014

This year is full of our last things here.  And now its time for our last Thanksgiving in Nashville.  I think it may have been the best one ever.  We got Sonic everyday, went on walks, ate WAY too much food, laughed a ton, saw Mockingjay, played lots of games, and really just had the best time ever.

Breakfast at Loveless

Waiting for breakfast.

Party in my van.

At Edwin Warner Park.

Playing in the mud.

Playing on the big see saw at Dragon Park.

And the adults got in on the fun too.

It was so fun to hang out with my sisters and now I am so excited to be in Dallas next year.  Its going to be epic!

Devin's Birthday

Its time to play catch up!  I'm way behind so I'm going to see how much I can blog about in one day.  I think after Shawn's birthday the next big thing was Devin's birthday.  He lucky because every year he gets his cousins to celebrate with.  Shawn suggested I make a really cool cake for him and found an awesome R2D2 cake that I felt like was doable.  So I tried, and conquered.  It was a little laborious and I"m really glad I had a lot of help from Shawn, Poodle, and Emily but so worth it!  Devin was so happy with his cake it made all the work worth while.  Devin is such a sweetie.  He is constantly wanting to give George hugs and kisses and is so nice to his other siblings as well.  He could actually be a little meaner to Graham and I'd be ok with it!  Anyways, he still LOVES legos and doesn't need any assistance, loves math, and just playing with his brother and older sister.  He has a tender little heart and we couldn't love him more!  Happy birthday Devin!
