Names

It seems like every time I leave the house I get asked what we are naming the baby.  And until yesterday I didn't really know, I'm still not 100% sure but I think we have one we both like.  I had a name that I really loved from the beginning, Lincoln.  Shawn on the other hand said, "Well its not the worst name in the world."  That's actually not bad coming from him, he usually despises a name or likes it there really isn't a lot of middle ground with him.  He had a name he liked as well, Grant but I told him too many people would get it confused with Graham, and I was right!  Just in the last two weeks I've had several people call Graham, Grant.  So That name was out.  I almost had Shawn on board with Lincoln and then a crazy name entered my mind that part of me thought was awesome, Texas, and we'd call him Tex.  I mean we both love Texas and I like being able to shorten names and I thought baby Tex was kind of cute. I knew it was just a pipe dream and Shawn thought I was a little crazy but he wasn't as appalled as I thought he would be.  So I still liked Lincoln and he wasn't budging on Grant, so we went through the alphabet and just blurted out names.  When we got to the G's there were lots that we liked, looking back we probably could've used G names for all of our kids and I'd be happy.  Anyways Shawn suggested Gregory and I kind of liked it.  It was different enough from Graham that I don't think people will think I'm saying one kids name and not the other.  I've also heard that Lincoln is starting to become really popular which I really don't like.  I don't want my kid being one of 5 Lincoln's in his class, and when I looked it up it was the one of the most popular names in Utah which did not bode well for the name.  Yes I am slightly prejudiced against Utah, its just a little too trendy for my taste.  And Lincoln isn't shortened well, I guess we could call him Link but I kind of hate that.  So at the moment our favorite name is Gregory Alan Funk.  Little baby Greg, I like it, but we'll see when he comes if it sticks!

Deal of the Decade

I found the most amazing deal yesterday.  I was so excited all I wanted to do for at least an hour was stare at my purchase and think, "Man this was such a good deal!"  I went to toys r us to get a present for a birthday party Devin was going to that day.  Luckily for me they are having their huge mid year clearance sale on tons of stuff.  As I was walking in I saw that they had some car seats on sale too, which is great because its one of the only things we really need for this kid.  I looked a little closer and couldn't believe how cheap they were!  They had full travel systems for $100 and $130!  So a stroller AND carseat for that cheap, still brand new in the box!  Usually car seats alone are that much.  I was really excited, and even better was that one of them was a Britax combo which I have never, ever bought because they are so expensive.  So I went back home dropped Devin off at his party and raced back to the store to get it because I was terrified they would be gone, and then I would be incredibly angry at myself for not having the sense to buy it the second I saw it.

Not the greatest picture but whatever you get the idea, brand new in the box stuff that is usually more than double the price I paid!  Don't worry it wasn't a shady deal, just last years model they were trying to get rid of.

This kid is going to have a sweet ride!  Oh I love a good deal!  Now all I need is a diaper bag, and I'll be ready for this boy.

Summer fun!

This has been the best summer we have ever had.  We've been keeping plenty busy and there has been a minimum of fighting and saying, "I"m bored!"  I've loved it.  I'll keep this pretty short and just put up pictures of all the fun stuff we've been doing.

We kicked off summer at our friends house with a water party.  The kids got wet and the moms hung out and talked, win-win.

And of course the water fight had to be boys versus girls.

We've also exercised a little.

Had to take our 2 week old computer in to get reprogramed, not cool and I'm pretty sure this is how I lost the pictures of Devin's end of year party. :(

Teaching the kids how to bake/cook.  Caroline is now a pro at mighty bex cookies.

And Devin can make some pretty mean tacos.  He was really proud of himself.  It was adorable.

Going to get my hormone shots every Friday.  Thankfully I haven't left in tears since the one terrible experience when I had to take them over spring break.  The kids have been so good each time, probably because they are scared to death that I will lock them in their rooms the rest of the day if they aren't good, but who knows for sure.

And we've been to the pool, LOTS!  I really think this is what has made our summer so great.  Our friends were out of town and gave us the key to their pool, it was magical.

So fun.

Go Devin!

And together now!

They even enjoy drying off in the hot, hot sun.

And I've passed my parental duties onto Caroline.  She does a great job.

This is supposed to be a video of Caroline diving but I"m not sure if it will work.  Cross your fingers!  There have been lots of other fun things going on too like soccer camp, swim lessons, and hanging out with friends.  I'll try and keep up with it all!  Happy summer!

End of School

I'm going to attempt to catch up with blogging!  Shawn has had the most amazing schedule lately and has been taking the kids on weekly hikes so I get a little alone time while they go out exploring.  He is my most favorite person in the whole wide world.  Anyways back to catching up.  I know school got out almost a month ago but I should still maybe blog about it.  Caroline and Devin both did very well this year.  Devin kind of had two teachers.  The one he initially had was out on maternity leave after spring break so he some different teaching experiences.  He loved both of his teachers, Mrs. Carrico and Mrs. Brasel.  When I asked him which teacher he liked better he said, "Well I like them both but Mrs. Carrico smiles more and Mrs. Brasel yells more."  I love how truthful kids are at this age.  I really don't think Mrs. Brasel was mean at all its just that Mrs. Carrico is probably the happiest, nicest teacher he will ever have.  I could NEVER be that patient with that many 5 year olds.  Both his teachers loved him and said he was always nice to the other kids and set a good example.  I loved hearing that.  He really is a sweet boy.
Caroline had Ms. Tant this year and continues her streak of having her teachers leave after they have taught her.  She really loved Ms. Tant and did so well.  She got the good citizenship award for her class for being a good friend and not causing trouble.  I wasn't surprised by that at all.  I was totally the teachers pet when I was younger.  It seems like both kids love to please at school.  That's just fine by me!  I'm sure Graham will be a different story.

Caroline with her awards.

She loved Ms. Tant.  I actually ran into her teacher at the grocery store about a week ago and Caroline was very jealous.  I can't seem to find the pictures I took of Devin!  Sorry kid, I know I took them but I think they got erased.

Summer

I am really behind blogging.  Its gotten a little out of hand.  I love blogging but the problem is that summer is EXHAUSTING!  We get up have a morning routine and then we are usually out the door doing stuff for a few hours then back home while I make dinner then its time to slow down for the rest of the day and by the time the kids are in bed, usually 8 I'm so tired and really haven't gotten much done because I've been keeping them busy so I don't hear how bored they are.  I really want a nap, actually on Sunday, yes Father's Day I took a 3 hour nap while Shawn took the kids on a "hike."  Anyways I plan on making a full comeback to blogging I just need to find time to do it.  On the bright side the kids go back to school a week before I'm due and I fully plan on sleeping the entire week in preparation for the baby.  I can't wait!
