Happy Belated Birthday Bethy!

I just realized that I'm a big jerk. I completely forgot to post about the most important day in May, Bethy's birthday. I'd like to think its because I was so excited about Annie and mom coming, but that's no excuse. So happy belated birthday Bethy and here are my top 10 reasons why I love you.
10. You delivered my second child and made it the best experience of my life!
9. You still wanted to be a part of the family even after we left you on a boat by yourself with all our luggage in a strange land.
8. You told the flight attendant on the way to Brazil that she was being rude!
7. You've been skydiving, and since I"m afraid of heights that counts big for me!
6. You have a secret voice that no one in the family can imitate, even though I've heard dad try a few times.
5. You define what is cool in the family. If you don't think its cool no one does.
4. You come up with the best nicknames for everyone, which is why you don't really have one because no one can think of one that's worthy of you!
3. I can never be far from the bathroom when hanging out with you because you make me laugh so hard.
2. You lived with an African tribe for a month after college! That's so cool!
1. You are incredibly selfless and a great mommy.

Happy Birthday Shady!

Happy Birthday Lindsey! You are so awesome and I love that you've always marched to the beat of your own drum. Here are my top 5 reasons why I love the Shademaster.
5. You called your 5th grade teacher Mr. Saggybottom.
4. You were on team spoiled with me! (best trip ever!)
3. It only took me leaving to college to get you to have perfect attendance in seminary. (I wasn't the best role model)
2. You planned your wedding for after your birthday because you didn't want to be a teenager on your wedding day.
1. You had no shame in spending half your time squatting in the streets of Petropolis because of your "problems" with the food there.
I love you Shady and hope you have a fabulous birthday!

Cool Stuff
Caroline cracks me up. Yesterday on the way home from the mall I gave her my sunglasses to play with, because she really loves wearing them. While I was driving she asked me to help her put them on. I told her I couldn't because I had to drive and she would have to figure it out for herself. I didn't think she actually would, well she sort of did. A few minutes later I was checking my rear view mirror and saw Caroline staring out the window with m sunglasses on upside down thinking she was the coolest person in the whole world. She is such a cutie!
Food Critic
I've decided that Devin could have a future as a food critic. Recently I've tried to start feeding him baby food. I thought this would be easy seeing as he loves food, but I had no idea that he's picky about what he eats. Yes, my 20+ pound six month old is picky. I tried rice cereal, peaches, applesauce, bananas nothing seems good enough for him to want to eat. However he will eat just about any food grandma is eating. He's already tried to steal her hamburger, sandwich, and skinny cow ice cream bar, a cupcake, oh and a fresca she was holding. At least he's smart enought to know what tastes good. If anyone has suggestions on how to get him to eat baby food please let me know, I'm really tired of feeding him at night.

Social Butterfly

I don't know how she does it but every where Caroline goes she makes a friend. Today we went and got her some new shorts (since its already getting ridiculously humid here) and sure enough after a few minutes of trying shorts on against her will she found the only child in the store and started running around with her. They were having a blast, running back and forth between the front and back of the store. I don't think I need to worry if she'll have friends in school. She's a social butterfly.

Change of Plans
So the weekend didn't exactly go as planned, but its ok because it turned out even better than originally planned. Annie decided to make an early arrival and was born on Saturday. She is so cute, and I don't think Mabel could like her more. Thanks for making the weekend wonderful, because nothing is more exciting than having a baby!

Eye Candy

Whoa we're half way there, whoa living on a prayer!
So I don't know if I got the lyric correct but whatever. I am proud to say that Shawn has successfully completed his second year of medical school! Way to go, we are so proud of you! Only two years left and you'll finally be in a real job! Hopefully the second two years will go by just as great as the first two.
Working for the Weekend
I am ready for the weekend. This week has been a little crazy with extra kids around. On Wednesday night we watched our friends kid so they could enjoy a nice anniversary dinner. Thursday I watched an extra kid about 2 months older than Devin. This was actually pretty low key because the baby was so sweet. Friday the baby again but today I got spit up on, or in how do you describe getting spit up in your mouth (he's still a sweet kid though.) Needless to say I'm excited for tomorrow and a fun filled day out in Katy with Bethy, Mabel, Ryan, and Brianna (Shawn and Brandon too but they'll be working all day.)

Nudist Colony
Apparently Caroline and Mabel think that's what we're running in the apartment. Today while I was making breakfast Caroline was in a diaper and shirt because I was washing her clothes. I guess Mabel didn't want her clothes on either so after playing in Caroline's room for a minute she came out without a shirt on. I thought it was weird but they do crazy stuff all the time. Well, Mabel wasn't done, about 5 minutes later she comes running out of Caroline's room butt naked! No diaper, nothing. She was so proud of herself and looked at me and said "naked!" She then ran back to Caroline's room and I found the two of them behind the laundry bag in the buff. They thought it was so funny. I had to muster all of my strength not to laugh so they wouldn't make it a habit of taking their clothes off and going to the bathroom. Sometimes I worry for their future.

Busy Bees
Caroline and Mabel have funny ways of occupying their time. today for instance they decided it would be so much fun to put everything they could find into the crib and I mean everything. By the time I found them it was completely full and they were sitting on top of their spoil. They couldn't have been more proud of themselves. To name a few of the things I found in the pile, a rubber duck, a book, two doll strollers, pillows, shoes, socks, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. These girls get crazier everyday. They were good and put every thing away when I told them to so I didn't get too mad. I just had to laugh.
Baby Steps
Devin is learning how to crawl. I know he's only 5 months old but he's a mover and shaker and wants to be mobile. He hasn't really got it down yet. What he does is pushes himself up on his hands then lets go and ends up balancing on his stomach for a few seconds while kicking his arms and legs. Its hilarious. What's even more funny is how frustrated he gets because he knows he's not moving anywhere. He is a real cutie. I'm going to try and get some video of it and post it for all to see; its worth waiting for.
