I thought Shawn wasn't on call tonight, in fact he told me he wasn't, and yet here I sit at almost 10 at night waiting for my husband to come home.
I also thought that Caroline was potty trained. She seems determined to prove me wrong, seeing as she's wet her pants once a day for the past week, including tonight at the home where I was visiting teaching. She's sleeping in a diaper tonight against her will. Its been a LONG night.

Tagged, well sort of.
My friend Meghan tagged everyone so I decided it would be fun to do this one.
Your High School's full name: Ronald Reagan High school
School Colors: Black, Dark Green, Silver, and White
School Mascot: Rattle Snake
Did you date anyone from your school? No. No one asked. My mom says its because I intimidated boys, I still don't buy it.
What kind of car did you drive: An awesome little silver civic with a ghetto spoiler.
It's Friday night, where are you: Depends on the year. The last two hanging out with Meghan, Jill or Kimmy.
Were you a party animal: Are you kidding? No.
Were you considered a flirt: Seeing as I've only ever kissed my husband, no.
Were you in any clubs: NHS, and the basketball team
Did you ever get expelled or suspended: I was very much the model student, so of course not and my parents would've killed me.
Can you still sing the fight song: I have no clue.
Who were your favorite teachers: Ms. Kinsey,
Ms. McDonald and Ms. Merkle
Where did you sit during lunch: In the locker room b/c I was too tired to get dressed and go to the cafeteria.
Who did you go to Homecoming with: I'll refer you to the above question about dating to answer that.
If you could go back and re-do high school would you: No. I really liked high school but I'd never want to relive it.
What do you remember about Graduation: It was long and project graduation was a snooze! Kimmy and I couldn't wait to go home.
Do you plan on going to your 10 year reunion: No when I think about the kind of people that go to those it makes me laugh, I was not their friend. I would like to hang out with my friends from high school though we had a lot of fun.
I tag: Mom because I think her's will be hilarious and anyone else who wants to join in!

Public Toilet
Today was a beautiful day. The high was about 87 which for Houston is fabulous, so we decided to go to the park and let Caroline play on what is quickly becoming her favorite toy, the ropes. About 30 minutes into playing Caroline told me she had to go potty. Here's how the conversation went.
me: "It's time to go home then, so you can go potty."
Caroline: "We come back after I go potty?"
me: "No, but we can come back tomorrow."
Caroline then looks away and pees right there on the ropes. I guess she thought that if she went potty there we wouldn't have to go home. If that was her thought process, I'm actually pretty impressed. Anyways, that made for a very long walk home. I never know what she's going to come up with.

We made it!
By "we" really I mean myself. Trauma surgery is OVER! This is Shawn's last day and I couldn't be happier. If i knew how to do a back flip I would do them all the way down the street! He finally has the weekend off which means I'll get to see him for more than 1 1/2 hrs a day. Honestly it could have been worse and what's important is Shawn loved it. (he's crazy I know) So the worst part of third year is hopefully over although I'm not taking bets on that. From what Shawn has heard general surgery is a walk in the park compared to trauma, lets hope so. I was quite literally on the verge of a mental breakdown several times this month due to the fact I've been trapped here without a car. I'd also really like to thank one of Shawn's friends for offering to drive him to school everyday! Thanks to him Shawn will come home to a happy and mentally balanced wife. (most of the time)

What a Day!
My days are mostly all the same but it seems like the days that Shawn is on call are long and have lots of ups and downs. So here's a peak at what happened today. As you can see above Caroline found the pie I made in the fridge. It just goes to show I need to cover EVERYTHING that goes in there. Not the best part of the day but at least I got a laugh.
Then Caroline decided to play mommy and "helped" Devin use his sippy cup. It melted my heart a little bit and made me really happy. During dinner I got to catch up with one of my best friends from high school which made my day. It was so fun to talk and laugh with her again and put me in a really good mood which was much needed for what was in store later. I was quickly brought back to reality when Caroline informed me that she had pooped her pants. I decided not to take a picture for the sake of those who ventured onto this blog. Its one of those special things just for moms! Lucky me. All in all it was a great day, but I think I could have lived without the poop.
Jealous
I thought this was really cute. Yesterday while Caroline was playing outside (by herself :) Devin decided he wanted to play too This was the closest he could get, and he wasn't happy about it. He was pretty jealous that she was outside playing while he was stuck inside not being able to eat the chalk, poor Devin. He seemed to cheer up when she came to play with him at the door. I thought the picture below was funny because it looks like he's in deep thought or something.

BORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shawn is still on surgery and unfortunately is on call tonight which leaves me stranded yet again without the car. Some days I want to cry, nothing serious just BORED OUT OF MY MIND! We spent the day taking walks, playing dress up (me and Caroline) and bumming around. The most exciting part of the day was when Devin leaned over the tub and fell in face first. Don't worry I was right there so it was really funny. We can't wait for surgery to be over.
Caroline's new favorite thing to do, brush her teeth. That girl is going to have the best hygiene of anyone when she starts school.

You're so far away!
A few nights ago I had a really weird dream. It was one of those when you wake up you feel like it was real but know that there is no possible way it could be real. I had a dream that Poodle came to visit, which isn't weird at all. What's weird is that she came in a space ship, or rocket because in my dream she lived on a different planet or solar system. I know crazy. I don't remember much else from the dream other than wondering, " why does she live so far away" and it made me sad. So, I've decided that Poodle lives WAY to far away and maybe Duke would be a good choice for Shawn to go to residency. Maybe then I"ll stop having psycho dreams about you leaving in space ships. I"m sure I'd end up having dreams about the rest of the family living on Pluto or something. I'd really appreciate if everyone would just live close enough so I can have a sound night of sleep!

More Pictures
Hurricane Ike
Here are some of the pictures from our experience with Ike. We had our friends over to help distract us from the heat. Caroline and Emmi had a better idea, they got their hair soaked with water to cool themselves down. It was pretty funny.

Oh Caroline
So yesterday Caroline tried to take off her pants in the middle of the grocery store. Good grief. Then on our way home I noticed she had a half melted York peppermint pattie in her chubby little hand. I don't know what goes through that girls head. Don't worry we went back and paid for it and she then had a LONG time out to think about why we don't steal, and make mommy walk all the way back to the store. I don't know which part I was more mad about the stealing or the extra time spent in the extreme heat!
I'm a Dork
And honestly I don't care. About a week ago I started reading the Twilight series and I have to admit I love it. (For anyone who knows what the book is about you know why I'm calling myself a dork) I read the first two books in about 2 days and couldn't wait for the third. I've finally convinced myself that I need to take it slow b/c surgery is a LONG rotation and there are only 4 books in the entire series. Anyways that's not the worst part I'll be one of the nerds who sees the Twilight movie the day it opens, which I think I'm a little more excited about just going out with friends than seeing what could be a let down after reading the book. I don't care it'll be fun and Shawn's already promised me that day (or hours) of sweet freedom that I'm really looking forward to.

She Makes me Laugh
Caroline is so funny sometimes, I don't know where she comes up with some of this stuff.
On the way home from grocery shopping I told Caroline we were going to get a book for Daddy. Her response was, "No get Daddy book. Daddy have enough." I can't dispute on that one. I agree with her.
Yesterday when Shawn came home from work he came and said hello to us then back inside to rest. Caroline looked up at me and said, "Daddy tend (pretend) be doctor."
Last night at dinner she looked up and said, "I love you mommy." "I love you too Caroline." Then her retort, "I love you first." I think she's already got some competitive spirit in her.
