Names

It seems like every time I leave the house I get asked what we are naming the baby.  And until yesterday I didn't really know, I'm still not 100% sure but I think we have one we both like.  I had a name that I really loved from the beginning, Lincoln.  Shawn on the other hand said, "Well its not the worst name in the world."  That's actually not bad coming from him, he usually despises a name or likes it there really isn't a lot of middle ground with him.  He had a name he liked as well, Grant but I told him too many people would get it confused with Graham, and I was right!  Just in the last two weeks I've had several people call Graham, Grant.  So That name was out.  I almost had Shawn on board with Lincoln and then a crazy name entered my mind that part of me thought was awesome, Texas, and we'd call him Tex.  I mean we both love Texas and I like being able to shorten names and I thought baby Tex was kind of cute. I knew it was just a pipe dream and Shawn thought I was a little crazy but he wasn't as appalled as I thought he would be.  So I still liked Lincoln and he wasn't budging on Grant, so we went through the alphabet and just blurted out names.  When we got to the G's there were lots that we liked, looking back we probably could've used G names for all of our kids and I'd be happy.  Anyways Shawn suggested Gregory and I kind of liked it.  It was different enough from Graham that I don't think people will think I'm saying one kids name and not the other.  I've also heard that Lincoln is starting to become really popular which I really don't like.  I don't want my kid being one of 5 Lincoln's in his class, and when I looked it up it was the one of the most popular names in Utah which did not bode well for the name.  Yes I am slightly prejudiced against Utah, its just a little too trendy for my taste.  And Lincoln isn't shortened well, I guess we could call him Link but I kind of hate that.  So at the moment our favorite name is Gregory Alan Funk.  Little baby Greg, I like it, but we'll see when he comes if it sticks!

Hey, in the beginning Lane said there was absolutely no way in the world we would name our child Perry. I eventually wore him down. I got him during my last trimester when I was so pitiful looking, he would have done anything because he felt sorry for me. The way I see it, you have the advantage to do whatever you want :)

We had a super hard time chosing a name for Baby boy number three. He wasn't named till after he was born. Hopefully you can decide sooner.
