#5

This is getting pathetic.  Today started out great.  I went to a church activity that went really well came home baked and then decided we should have some family time.  For us that means going to the grocery store together which sounds lame but I had a  blast.  So we came home and were excited to start our dinner of champions (hot dogs and french fries) and watch a movie.  Then while I'm getting dinner ready I hear Graham thundering down the stairs, which I have told him to not do about a 1000 times.  The end result was a little different this time though.  About half way down the stairs he just started rolling down the stairs and started crying.  My first reaction was laughter, and Shawn told him what he just did was stupid.  Yes parents of the year right here.  Graham is crying holding his wrist and me and Shawn don't seem to care.  To be fair I did run over and made sure he was still alive before I started laughing.  I knew he wasn't hurt too bad.  So Graham goes over to Shawn who in about 5 seconds decided he needs to be taken to the hospital for X-rays.  Awesome.  I was in hysterics at this point.  I could not stop laughing.  Crap like this just seems to happen right when I think things are going really well.  I was crying and laughing at one point because I knew his wrist was probably broken and we would have yet another thing to deal with right before I have a baby.  But since I'm such a positive person there are lots of things to be grateful for, like...
1) Shawn was able to tell within a minute if Graham was actually hurt and needed further attention.  Very few people can do that.  My husband rocks.
2) Shawn is on a pediatric service right now and is in the thick of stuff like this.
3) In an an hour and ten minutes Shawn and Graham had gone to the hospital, gotten X-rays, and a cast on, then came home.  In 70 minutes, that has to be some kind of record.
4) He doesn't need surgery which is the best thing ever seeing as we get to pay for a baby pretty soon.
5) I won't even have to take Graham in by myself because three weeks from today I will be in the hospital having a baby so Shawn is just going to bring Graham in at the same time and take the cast off. Again, Shawn is Superman.
All things considered it wasn't so bad mainly because of Shawn's job.  I don't think there has ever been anyone more suited to do what he does considering their clumsy family.
Graham had fun meeting the other residents at the hospital and was very concerned I was at home pining for him.  This kid is hilarious.  And just a few minutes ago I was reminding Graham to never ever agin to run down the stairs and he said, "At least it didn't fall off." He was taking about his arm.  Just a normal day in Funk household.

He thought he was pretty hot stuff when he came home.

Of course Shawn made sure to make his cast super hero colors.  Its either Captain America or Spiderman, take your pick.

And enjoying a late diner after their trip to the hospital.

Poor kid! I love that you laughed at first because I would have done the same thing! And you're right...good thing Shawn is a doctor :)

I love your family. I would have laughed, too and I have that fear every day now that we have stairs!

Gotta love all those perks of having a husband for a doctor. Glad things are working out. I can't believe it is almost time for you to have your baby. I am so excited for you guys! :-)
