Referrals
Seriously, she's awesome and not just because she's my sister. I have proof, she delivered Devin and it was great! (as far as having babies goes.) She will forever be the favorite aunt for that!

Baby Talk
Caroline: "I want you and mommy to have another baby."
Dad: "Mommy's in charge of that you're going to have to ask her."
Caroline: "ok I go talk to her."
Caroline then runs upstairs jumps on my bed and...
"Mommy I want you have a baby in your tummy."
Me: "NO."
I"m glad she loves Devin so much (really I think she likes bossing him around) but we're not having one anytime soon. I hope she'll always be this enthusiastic about her siblings, but somehow I really doubt it.
What a Guy!

As Requested By Heather
![]()
1 (3 1/2 to 4 pound) chicken
1 small yellow onion, quartered
1 lemon, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic sliced in half
Salt and black pepper
Butter or olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 cups chicken broth
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Wash the chicken in hot water and dry thoroughly. Season the cavity with salt and black pepper and stuff with the onion, lemon and garlic cloves. Rub the chicken lightly with softened butter and season all over with salt and pepper. (I also like to rub the chicken with sliced garlic) Tie the drumsticks ends together and set the chicken, breast side up, in an oiled v-shaped rack or on an oiled roasting pan in the oven.
Roast for 15 minutes at 425 degrees F, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees, baste the chicken, and roast for 15 minutes. Add the chopped onion and carrot to the pan, basting them and the chicken. Continue roasting the chicken until the juices run clear, for a total of 45 minutes plus an additional 7 minutes for each pound. (In other words, a 3 1/2 pound chicken would take a basic 45 minutes plus an additional 25 minutes, for a total 70 minutes or 1 hour and 10 minutes of cooking time.)
For gravy: (I've actually never made this but it sounds good)

Put me in the Zoo
We had a great trip to the zoo today. Caroline had blast with all of her friends, I think there were about 15 people total there.
Here is Devin being a good sport as usual. He actually fell asleep during the trip and slept through the thunderstorm.
Caroline LOVED being around so many other kids. She really likes being around older kids, I guess it makes her feel like big stuff.
This is pretty funny, Caroline saw her friend Emmi take off her shoes so naturally she had to do the same thing. I looked at her through the glass and told her no and she just laughed knowing I couldn't do a thing about it until she got out. It poured down rain about half way through the trip but it just made Caroline excited to jump in the puds. (puddles) We love the zoo!

A Big Thanks and the Best Call Day EVER!
I promised my mom I'd post pictures of Caroline in her new Mexican dress ups. She loves them, but honestly she seemed most excited about the cookies that were included in the package. I think she looks pretty dang cute. Thanks again for the package, as usual you were way too generous :)
Sometimes I feel like Devin fades into the background (with Caroline as a sister, its pretty easy), so here's the 2 second update. This is where he's spending most of his time these days, the kid never stops eating but we love him just the same!
And now on to the best call day ever! We started the day off by brief visit from Aunt Sandra and Uncle Phillip in the morning that made our day! Caroline can't wait for Christmas time when she gets to see them again and hopefully all of the Funk cousins as well. Then it was off to Target to get the kids a little present (thanks again mom) and some much needed shopping. Caroline loves her glow-in-the-dark bracelets and Devin threw a Caroline sized fit when I tried to take his new ball away.
Here's the loot from our shopping expedition. I know I got Caroline way more but I went shopping for Devin not too long ago so don't think I"m playing favorites. I was really excited, Target was having great sales! (and poodle I got these jeans for Caroline b/c the reminded me of something you'd wear, not that you dress like a 2 yr old, they're just really cute.) After shopping Shawn surprised us and came home for lunch, "wait." you say, "he's supposed to be on call." Ah but as it turns out surgeons don't really want to work on Saturday so its pretty slow in the OR so he came home for dinner too! If this is what surgery is like I'm sold! To top off the day I made a tasty trifle and had a fellow med school wife over to sympathize with. It was a great day and I'm actually a little excited for the next time Shawn is on call.
