More stinkin' snow

Here is a picture of what I hope is the last snowfall of the season.  Because when it looks like outside THIS is what it looks like inside our house.

Not much to do when its so cold outside so we have to improvise.  The kids seem to enjoy it but I'm ready for some sunshine.  I'm really excited for 50 degree weather this weekend!

ER

It had to happen sometime.  I just considered myself lucky that we've never had to take a kid to the ER, until yesterday.  Ten minutes before church ended Shawn burst through the door of the nursery and told me we had to go to the hospital.  I was really confused but followed anyways and quickly realized something was wrong once I saw Graham's face.  He had a huge gash on his face about an inch long and was bleeding everywhere.  I grabbed the kids and we left for the hospital which is only about 5 minutes from church.  By this time Graham had already stopped crying and was trying to lick the blood off his hand. Honestly I was a little more worried about Shawn at this point.  He was pretty torn up about the whole thing.  All doctoring went out the window and scared dad kicked in.  We checked into the ER and and at the exact moment we were checking in Shawn saw one of the plastic surgery fellows heading into work.  He took a look at Graham and told us he'd be happy to sew him up when we got a room.  The nurses were able to numb, and bandage Graham up pretty quickly so then we just waited.  I really wish I had a picture of him at this point it looked pretty impressive. Anyways a friend from church followed us to the hospital and took the kids home with them and fed them dinner.  Thank goodness for good friends, it made the night so much better and Devin and Caroline were jumping up and down in excitement.  So me, Shawn, and Graham hung out in the ER for about an hour before getting a room and then they gave Graham some really good drugs to keep him calm while stitching him up.  Graham was a great sport and only cried when he was being pinned down.  We were so lucky to have a plastic surgeon sew him up, he went above and beyond to help us out.  Its really great having an in at the hospital!  So two layers of stitches and some dermabond he'll be as good as new pretty soon.  What a night!  Let the deductible dollars start adding up!

Very happy this morning and glad to have more attention.

Seriously all is already forgotten.

Enough is enough

I"ve held my tongue for long enough.  If I see another stupid, gusshy, over-the-top, jewelry commercial I think I'm going to die.  Seriously they are the bane of my existence.  From Christmas to Mother's Day there are never ending commercials of, "every kiss begins with Kay" and "did he go to Jared?"  Personally I would throw it in the trash if I got anything from there just on principle that their commercials are AWFUL! And I personally think their stuff is hideous. Sorry but it had to be said.  Whew I feel much better now.

Chicago

I haven't posted in a while about the awesomeness of Vanderbilt so I thought I'd share reason 23 why Vanderbilt is great.  Shawn got an email today informing him that he would be attending an orthopaedic conference in Chicago sometime in August.  Can I tell you how jealous I am right now?!  I've never been to Chicago but all I have ever heard about it is how much fun it is.  We've actually entertained the idea of me tagging along and sightseeing while Shawn gets to listen to people lecture about bones (snooze).  Only problem is I'd be a little intimidated going out and about by myself, oh yeah and we have these 3 kids that need some sort of supervision.  So does anyone want to a) tag along with me and eat innumerable amounts of Chicago style pizza or b) watch my adorable, wonderful, sweet, although sometimes crazy kids while I have fun?  Just thought I'd ask.  Even if I stay home which is what will happen its still really cool and I'm excited for Shawn.

Nostalgia

Its been a really long week.  Shawn had a week of nights this past week, is on call today, I had to go to church an hour early today, and to top it off I found my first white hair.  Not gray, WHITE.  I just about cried.  So now the kids are in bed and my house is semi clean so to cheer me up I took a look at some old pictures that we almost lost when our hardrive crashed a few months ago.   Nothing like cute baby pictures to cheer me up!  I think I may have made the cutest kids ever.

This is Graham's favorite place to play, not my favorite however.

Almost four years later and this picture still makes me laugh, I love the crazy look in her eye, best picture ever.

I am SO excited to visit my family soon.  I really miss having these girls together.  I don't even remember what we did everyday but I miss it.

Sweetest boy ever made.  Tonight he came up to me and said, "mommy I'm tired can we go home."  He loves to sleep, which may explain why he's so stinkin' big!

These two may have their moments of, "you're not my friend anymore." and "I"m never going to play with you ever again." But really they're best buddies and get so excited to see each other if they've been apart for a few hours.  And I still can't get over how big Devin's head looks.

He may be a little crazier than he used to be but I've never wanted to squeeze and snuggle a baby so much.  I love my baby Graham!
They're not babies anymore but I love looking at how little they used to be and wishing they would stop growing for just a day.

Oh the things kids say

We've had a pretty great day here.  These kids get funnier everyday.  Now if you don't think this is funny I won't be offended because I"m a pretty big dork and I think most of the words that come out of my kiddos mouths are hilarious.  So when we were deciding what game to play Caroline suggested Candy Land but Devin wanted to play Chutes and Ladders (toy story version).  I think both of them are about the dumbest games ever made so I let Caroline have her pick.  In response to finding out we were playing Candy Land Devin said, "No I wanted to play Woody Land."
Caroline is way too ready to grown up.  She is constantly talking about what she is going to be when she grows up.  She's narrowed it down to a doctor, engineer, and a teacher.  Today she started talking about what she is going to do with her kids when she is a mom.  I asked her what fun things she is going to do with them and she said, "The same stuff you do."  It made me feel really good that she thinks our days are fun b/c I'll be honest we've been having lots of stay inside and use your imagination while I clean days.  Anyways she also discussed her discipline tactics with me.  She told me that when her kids do bad things they will have time outs on the stairs but when they do things like bang on the doors she'll just have the daddy come upstairs.  In case you were wondering Caroline has a problem banging on her door when she's throwing a fit in her room I usually try to get her to stop but there's nothing like a 6 ft 3 in daddy to put just the right amount fear into a four year old. (don't worry we don't beat our children or really even spank Shawn is just better at getting through to her)
Poor little Graham hasn't been mentioned lately so I'll let you know what he's up to.  He's busy being the cutest baby EVER.  I seriously think I could squeeze him all day.  He likes to blow on his food before eating it and LOVES to run to the garage door when he hears Shawn come home.  I love it.  He's a bit of a daddy's boy.
