It had to happen sometime. I just considered myself lucky that we've never had to take a kid to the ER, until yesterday. Ten minutes before church ended Shawn burst through the door of the nursery and told me we had to go to the hospital. I was really confused but followed anyways and quickly realized something was wrong once I saw Graham's face. He had a huge gash on his face about an inch long and was bleeding everywhere. I grabbed the kids and we left for the hospital which is only about 5 minutes from church. By this time Graham had already stopped crying and was trying to lick the blood off his hand. Honestly I was a little more worried about Shawn at this point. He was pretty torn up about the whole thing. All doctoring went out the window and scared dad kicked in. We checked into the ER and and at the exact moment we were checking in Shawn saw one of the plastic surgery fellows heading into work. He took a look at Graham and told us he'd be happy to sew him up when we got a room. The nurses were able to numb, and bandage Graham up pretty quickly so then we just waited. I really wish I had a picture of him at this point it looked pretty impressive. Anyways a friend from church followed us to the hospital and took the kids home with them and fed them dinner. Thank goodness for good friends, it made the night so much better and Devin and Caroline were jumping up and down in excitement. So me, Shawn, and Graham hung out in the ER for about an hour before getting a room and then they gave Graham some really good drugs to keep him calm while stitching him up. Graham was a great sport and only cried when he was being pinned down. We were so lucky to have a plastic surgeon sew him up, he went above and beyond to help us out. Its really great having an in at the hospital! So two layers of stitches and some dermabond he'll be as good as new pretty soon. What a night! Let the deductible dollars start adding up!

Very happy this morning and glad to have more attention.
Seriously all is already forgotten.

it's true, it'd had to happen eventually. and he doesn't seem that bothered by it anyway :o) cute little guy! i've taken kallie to the ER at least 4 times that I can think of for various things. you're doing pretty good in my book!
Poor baby! Just curious, how did that happen at church? Glad Graham is alright, and will be as good as new in no time at all.
Oh man! How did he get it? I'm glad he's alright.
I feel your pain! Having Michael break his arm last year(twice!) and going through surgery (twice!)was so traumatic..for me. It looks like his cut was very close to the eye. So in the end you were very blessed and it looks like things worked out OK. Hope you don't have to do it again any time soon.
he's so cute! less than one month until i see him!
Well, at least it didn't happen about a week after another vist to the ER to extract a bead from his nose. And he wasn't dressed in his sister's slip.
LOL love how happy he looks! I don't even have kids yet and I'm already nervous about the ER, gold star to you for getting the first visit over with :)
Sweet baby Graham! Sorry :(
Glad things worked out ok.
What a good sport! That's such a big cut he got. Glad to hear things went well.
Not fun for the little guy! Hope he is doing well.
