Boy or Girl

I get asked occasionally if I think we're having a boy or a girl, I'm going to say now that I have never been right so I'm sure I'll be wrong again but I'll give it a try.  So here a few things people say if you feel... you are having a ...
Craving savory things means you're having a boy.  Well people I just like food in general and I tend to want salty things over sweets anyway so I don't think this is a condition of having a boy, this is just me.  And I'll tell you this pregnancy I could eat a can of olives everyday and be happy, or sushi rolls, they sound so good!  Oh and I think this baby knows it's a Texan at heart because Tex Mex and Texas BBQ are also high on my craving list.
Carrying low means you're having a boy.  I tend to just carry low.  I do feel like this time around I feel like the baby is higher but I could be making that up.
A slower heart rate (baby) means you're having a boy.  I think this one is total crap and I can't remember any of my kids having a heart rate under 140, and I have a girl and boys.
If your hair thins and is dull its a girl, but full and glossy its a boy.  My hair looks the same people.  I do feel like I'm loosing it though.  I'm going to chalk that up to being nervous about having four kids.
Now as far as Graham goes we are having a girl because we already have two boys and it wouldn't be fair to have another.  Its a good thing he's cute!  I kind of think it may be a girl though.  I don't know why its just my gut feeling, which has always been wrong, so expect a boy people!  We find out April 7th!

Crazy town

I know I don't blog much anymore but its really because I've been avoiding the computer. Its really slow, but Shawn being the tech savvy person he is fixed it so hopefully I'll be better about posting.  Anyways,  I haven't posted much about this pregnancy so I thought I'd share my thoughts on how its going, and maybe take a guess at what we're having.  I've been feeling really fine, and usually my only complaint about being pregnant is that I kind of go crazy.  I thought I was doing better this round but the last two weeks I've been having some bigger mood swings and I think I have finally figured out why.  Two weeks ago I started getting my hormone shots that help me keep the baby in until I"m full term.  They don't really hurt and its not a huge deal but I've realized having even more hormones in my body make me a little insane.  Today for example I could not stop crying after church.  I didn't really have a reason but I cried for about 30 minutes on and off and when I thought I was better and started making dinner I almost broke down again!  I had been cranky a lot of the day but wow it was bad.  I also remember the day after my first shot I was so hungry, like I thought I was going to pass out while exercising because I was so hungry.  It didn't occur to me until I talked to my mom that maybe these "crazy episodes" and hunger could be linked to the shots I'm getting every week.  I could be doing this on my own but just to make myself feel better I'm going to blame at least part of it on my shots.

Snow Days

It has been one LONG week around here.  We had three snow days in a row, well really in Nashville they're more like ice days but you get the idea.  All three kids at home, we can't go outside so we're spending way too much time in close proximity to one another.  Here's a breakdown of how the days went so far this week.
Monday Snow Day 1:  When I got the phone call saying school was canceled I was ok with it.  After a whirlwind weekend with super fun visitors I was ready to have a day to sleep in and relax.  And Devin was even sick on Monday so I didn't have to worry about entertaining them, we had a movie day and I didn't think once about feeling bad about it.

Tuesday Snow Day 2:  I was kind of surprised when they canceled school but thought, there really is a lot of ice still on the roads so it makes sense.  And another day to sleep in, not bad.  Then I remembered I had to take a cake to a nice law firm downtown and have it ready by 2.  Not a huge deal, but I"m not super fast and having all three kids at home makes me even slower.  Plus I had to take all of them to Michaels because I needed a box and some cardboard circles. I tried going the night before without children but they closed early because of weather, really they're just lazy in my opinion.  The kids were fine at the delivery mainly because I threatened to lock them in their rooms for the rest of the day if they didn't behave but after cleaning up the cake mess and folding way too many loads of laundry I was so tired, and still hadn't showered. It was about 5 by then, so I decided to get pizza for dinner waited a while to get it and didn't realize until I put it in the oven that they gave me the wrong kind, so being tired and hungry and pregnant I cried.  It turned out fine and I pulled it together not long after dinner.  I made sure the kids were showered and in bed early so they'd be well rested for school the next day.  Then I got a call saying school was canceled for a third day.  I almost started crying again.  It was 11pm before I got to shower that day.  Not cool.

Wednesday Snow Day 3: I couldn't believe they canceled another day.  The ice was gone and I was mad.  Luckily Devin was better so I told my friend I really needed her kids to come over to entertain my kids so we would all make it through the day in one piece.  It worked.  I got to read my book and even fall asleep on accident because the kids were playing so well together.  If we do have more snow days this year I now know how to cope, just have friends over so I don't have to deal with them.  How is it possible that I'm having another?

Caroline's Baptism

This last weekend Caroline was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It was one of the best days of my life.  I'm so proud of my sweet Caroline.  Everything went so well and it was just so great to see so many people be there to support her, especially my parents.  Hopefully at Devin's we'll be able to have both sets there!  We did miss the Funks, next time though!  We had so many people turn out from our ward, my mom thought I was crazy for making so much food.  Anyways, Caroline was lucky to be baptized the same day as her best friend her, Annabeth.  They are such good buddies and have been since the first Sunday they met at church.  I may have been in a crazy rush in the morning and forgot to bring a towel or much of anything for Shawn but he's a great hubby and knows when I'm going to forget stuff so he was sure to bring his own towel.  And my dad did a great job coming up with a talk 5 minutes before the service started.   Thanks to everyone that came and we are so happy that Caroline took this important step in life.

Caroline and Annabeth holding a cute banner that has 3-1-14 on it, the date they were baptized.

Grandma and Grandpa Reed and Caroline.  Thanks so much for coming, we have fun every time you come!

The girls being silly.

And now cute.

We were so glad we were able to celebrate my dad's birthday with him.

He couldn't leave without at least one reading of Little Black a Pony.

We also had some great Lego building time.

And snuggles for Grandpa before bed!

Caroline's birthday

I'm so behind in blogging its really not very funny, and I don't like it but now that blogger doesn't seem to be having problems, or maybe its Safari I'm not sure but hey its working and I can get down to business now.  So Caroline hit a big milestone this year.  She's eight, eight people!  How is that possible!?  Last night I was talking about going to the hospital and having her and all the crazy stuff that happened to my poor baby not long after, I can't believe that was eight years ago.  We had a very low key birthday this year for her.  She was lucky to have Grandma Funk come just a few days after her birthday so we held off and celebrated when Sheri was here.  We also had to wait for Shawn to be in town too because he was off interviewing in Dallas when his mom first arrived. So several days after her birthday we finally celebrated with mini golf, hot chicken, and cake of course!  Caroline is such a great kid, she loves school, is a huge helper to me, a great big sister, and wonderful example to our family.  We love you Caroline!

Here she is opening her presents.
Shawn showing Graham proper form.  It was so cute Graham was diligent at making sure his thumbs were always facing down.

Caroline got a hole in one and had tons of fun.

Devin has an interesting technique where you gently guide the ball in with the club into the hole.

Here she is super excited about her new basketball to go with our hand me down hoop that was given to us from our neighbor.

She requested a chocolate dipped strawberry cake so I did my best to accommodate her wishes. I think it turned out pretty well and she loved it so I'm happy.

I now have a child old enough for activity days. I remember going to those.  Weird, I"m getting old!  She loved every minute of it and felt so grown up.

Some cute new clothes from grandma!  And she loves the beautiful necklace that has her name in Arabic on it.  Can you guess who that was from?  Its so pretty and she looks very grown up wearing it. We loved spending the weekend with Sheri and had so much fun celebrating Caroline's birthday.  Thanks for coming and hanging out with us Sheri and happy birthday Caroline!

Boston (the city not the band)

Thank everything Shawn is finally done with interviewing for fellowship.  His last stop was Boston and now that he's done I kind of don't even care about posting about it because I'm just glad he'll be home this weekend.  But to be fair to Boston I'll post about it.  Really the only positive thing I can think about living there would be that there is a lot of fun history there that would be fun to explore.  And since I do have a degree in American Studies I should probably try and pretend to care about that.  Really I do think it would be cool but the negative kind of out weigh that one thing.  Like the fact it is freaking cold there way too much of the year, its crazy expensive, we'd probably have to live in a tiny place, and its way far away from family.  At this point I'd really like to try and get closer.  So Boston isn't number one for me but hey, I could do it for a year.
