Back to normal

Well after two LONG weeks of spring break the kids went back to school last week and I have to say now that we are back in a schedule things are so much better.  The boys still fight but its much less now that they are not with each other all day and I've realized its just part of being brothers.  Last week started out on a nice note.  As I was leaving volleyball I got a phone call saying I had a delivery waiting to be delivered when I got home.  I was so excited and raced home to see what it was.  I was very excited to see Sheri had sent me an edible arraignment because she awesome and thought it would cheer me up.  It did, a lot.  The fruit was gone in about 5 minutes and the card made me laugh out loud.  It was just what I needed to start off the week.
The kids also had their art show at school so we made sure to head over after school to check out their creations.  The kids really love going to art and their teacher told me how much he enjoys having them in his class, that's always nice to hear.  We even got pizza for dinner that night and I didn't even cry about it.  See what I mean about last week being great?  I also got to bake with some friends and help another friend make a strawberry cake from scratch for her little boys birthday.  Not a bad week if you ask me.  And now this week we find out the gender of the baby and where we will be moving next year.   I"m so excited!
It was so pretty and tasty, but it didn't last long once I gave the kids the ok to rip into it.

This is 5 minutes later.  I managed to save a few chocolate covered strawberries for Shawn but that was it!

Here is Devin with the picture he made for the art show.  I think its supposed to be some kind of bug.

And here he is voting for one of his favorites.  He was really sweet and made sure to vote for Caroline's picture, she however did not return the favor.

And Caroline with her picture.  And I'm realizing these are really fuzzy pictures, sorry!

Bad Day

Does anyone ever have one of those days when you feel like everyone is judging you?  I just love those days.  No not really, they make me cry.  And I had one of them last Friday.  I remembered 30 minutes before my appointment for my hormone shot that I had an appointment and had to race out the door since it takes about 25 minutes to get to the office.  Oh and I had all three kids with me due to spring break and I had completely forgotten about the appointment.  So we got in the car Devin in cut off shorts a polo and flip flops, Graham with food all over his face, and Caroline quite unhappy that we couldn't watch Frozen that minute.  It actually wasn't too bad, I thought I had everything under control and then we got to the office and Graham wanted to race me up the escalator (kind of my idea we just go about it different ways)  so he sprinted through the lobby and started taking the escalator stairs two at a time.  I thought it was funny until the stupid cranky old lady at the front desk started yelling at him and giving me dirty looks.  I got him to slow down in a calm way but she kept yelling anyways so I just ignored her and went on my way.  When we got to the ob office I stood in a long line to check in and had the boys sit down.  Big mistake, they were fighting over who was sitting where and spitting at each other all while everyone in the general vicinity was staring at them.  So I tried to separate them and hold Graham but he was not having it and fought me the entire time.  It was awesome.  I felt like everyone in there was staring at me thinking, "Lady, you already have three kids you obviously can't handle and you thought it'd be a good idea to have another?"  I felt so white trash its not even funny.  Thankfully the nurse saw me very quickly but by then I was already starting to tear up and not at all relaxed enough to have a giant needle poked in me so my shot that usually doesn't hurt too bad made me want to cry even more.  It was awful.  I had a bruise for the next few days it was so bad.  Yuck.  So when we got back to the car I couldn't hold it in any more and just burst into tears.  Not my finest moment.  Let me tell you getting additional hormones to an already hormonal pregnant woman is not a good idea.  I thought I was keeping it together pretty well this pregnancy but that was up until a few weeks ago.  I'll just tell you now I"m crazy and can't wait for these shots to be over.  On the bright side I was smart enough to find someone to watch my kids this week so I don't leave the office in tears.  So if anyone has had a bad day recently give me a call I can totally relate!  And thanks to Fernash for cheering me up after my appointment.  I love my siblings!

Oh please let it be a girl!

Let me just start by saying I really do love my boys.  They are super sweet and so hilarious but when they are together they are constantly fighting!  I seriously feel like most days I'm pulling them off of each other, or they are yelling at each other.  Now since I only had one brother growing up and he was the least likely to yell in our house I have no idea what to expect from boys.  Is this normal?  I've asked a few other people that have boys close together and it seems like their boys get along pretty well.  So I don't know if its just a phase or they are doomed to always be at each others throats. I"m sure I"m over reacting but two weeks of spring break is really starting to take its toll!  I'm really ready for the kids to get back to school, and I think they are too!  And I can't wait to find out what we're having, only 12 more days! Don't worry I'll still be excited if its a boy.  :)

Boy or Girl

I get asked occasionally if I think we're having a boy or a girl, I'm going to say now that I have never been right so I'm sure I'll be wrong again but I'll give it a try.  So here a few things people say if you feel... you are having a ...
Craving savory things means you're having a boy.  Well people I just like food in general and I tend to want salty things over sweets anyway so I don't think this is a condition of having a boy, this is just me.  And I'll tell you this pregnancy I could eat a can of olives everyday and be happy, or sushi rolls, they sound so good!  Oh and I think this baby knows it's a Texan at heart because Tex Mex and Texas BBQ are also high on my craving list.
Carrying low means you're having a boy.  I tend to just carry low.  I do feel like this time around I feel like the baby is higher but I could be making that up.
A slower heart rate (baby) means you're having a boy.  I think this one is total crap and I can't remember any of my kids having a heart rate under 140, and I have a girl and boys.
If your hair thins and is dull its a girl, but full and glossy its a boy.  My hair looks the same people.  I do feel like I'm loosing it though.  I'm going to chalk that up to being nervous about having four kids.
Now as far as Graham goes we are having a girl because we already have two boys and it wouldn't be fair to have another.  Its a good thing he's cute!  I kind of think it may be a girl though.  I don't know why its just my gut feeling, which has always been wrong, so expect a boy people!  We find out April 7th!

Crazy town

I know I don't blog much anymore but its really because I've been avoiding the computer. Its really slow, but Shawn being the tech savvy person he is fixed it so hopefully I'll be better about posting.  Anyways,  I haven't posted much about this pregnancy so I thought I'd share my thoughts on how its going, and maybe take a guess at what we're having.  I've been feeling really fine, and usually my only complaint about being pregnant is that I kind of go crazy.  I thought I was doing better this round but the last two weeks I've been having some bigger mood swings and I think I have finally figured out why.  Two weeks ago I started getting my hormone shots that help me keep the baby in until I"m full term.  They don't really hurt and its not a huge deal but I've realized having even more hormones in my body make me a little insane.  Today for example I could not stop crying after church.  I didn't really have a reason but I cried for about 30 minutes on and off and when I thought I was better and started making dinner I almost broke down again!  I had been cranky a lot of the day but wow it was bad.  I also remember the day after my first shot I was so hungry, like I thought I was going to pass out while exercising because I was so hungry.  It didn't occur to me until I talked to my mom that maybe these "crazy episodes" and hunger could be linked to the shots I'm getting every week.  I could be doing this on my own but just to make myself feel better I'm going to blame at least part of it on my shots.

Snow Days

It has been one LONG week around here.  We had three snow days in a row, well really in Nashville they're more like ice days but you get the idea.  All three kids at home, we can't go outside so we're spending way too much time in close proximity to one another.  Here's a breakdown of how the days went so far this week.
Monday Snow Day 1:  When I got the phone call saying school was canceled I was ok with it.  After a whirlwind weekend with super fun visitors I was ready to have a day to sleep in and relax.  And Devin was even sick on Monday so I didn't have to worry about entertaining them, we had a movie day and I didn't think once about feeling bad about it.

Tuesday Snow Day 2:  I was kind of surprised when they canceled school but thought, there really is a lot of ice still on the roads so it makes sense.  And another day to sleep in, not bad.  Then I remembered I had to take a cake to a nice law firm downtown and have it ready by 2.  Not a huge deal, but I"m not super fast and having all three kids at home makes me even slower.  Plus I had to take all of them to Michaels because I needed a box and some cardboard circles. I tried going the night before without children but they closed early because of weather, really they're just lazy in my opinion.  The kids were fine at the delivery mainly because I threatened to lock them in their rooms for the rest of the day if they didn't behave but after cleaning up the cake mess and folding way too many loads of laundry I was so tired, and still hadn't showered. It was about 5 by then, so I decided to get pizza for dinner waited a while to get it and didn't realize until I put it in the oven that they gave me the wrong kind, so being tired and hungry and pregnant I cried.  It turned out fine and I pulled it together not long after dinner.  I made sure the kids were showered and in bed early so they'd be well rested for school the next day.  Then I got a call saying school was canceled for a third day.  I almost started crying again.  It was 11pm before I got to shower that day.  Not cool.

Wednesday Snow Day 3: I couldn't believe they canceled another day.  The ice was gone and I was mad.  Luckily Devin was better so I told my friend I really needed her kids to come over to entertain my kids so we would all make it through the day in one piece.  It worked.  I got to read my book and even fall asleep on accident because the kids were playing so well together.  If we do have more snow days this year I now know how to cope, just have friends over so I don't have to deal with them.  How is it possible that I'm having another?
