Too much?

There are a few things I don't like about Caroline's school.
1. They ask for money ALL THE TIME!  It seems like every week I get a note from the school asking for donations for some reason or another.  They also have local businesses donate 10% of their sales for certain days to the schools and they encourage us to go spend money there.  It just really bugs me.  Anyways onto the next reason.
2. The amount of work they have the students do seems a little ridiculous.  At least for Caroline's age.  She has had several projects so far this year which haven't been so bad but the one she brought home this week seemed like a bit too much for a 5 year old.  She is supposed to make a free standing sculpture using 2 flat shapes and 4 solid shapes.  She is then supposed to write how it was made and what shapes were used and also describe the shapes and how many shapes were used.  Seriously? Am I crazy or is this a lot for someone that age?

I love a good deal!

Yesterday I did one of my favorite things.  I headed to Target to pick up a few things and found some great deals!  The only reason I can tolerate January is because of the deals, I'm really not a fan of this month.  Anyways, I got shoes for Devin 75% off, boots for Caroline for next winter 75% off!  I was very happy because I really hate paying $20 for shoes my kids are going to grow out of in a few months.  I also had my eye open for a fleece jacket for me and stumbled upon some in the little boys section they were on clearance for $3 and they had one xl left which fits just fine!  I also grabbed one for Caroline and Devin because hey it was $3! I even told Shawn about it which, I don't think he cared, but he hid his lack of enthusiasm pretty well.

Resolutions

Is it sad that I can't even remember my resolutions from last year?  Well I can't but that won't stop me from making and probably not following through with more this year.
1. Learn to play the piano. My in-laws are awesome and got me a great keyboard for Christmas so now I have no reason not to learn.  I have a friend that teaches lessons so here we go!
2. Bake more!  I have a new HUGE new cookbook that I can't wait to try out about 100 new recipes, I"m so excited!
3. Be consistent with scripture study.  I'm pretty sure I had this one last year but I still need to work on it!
4. Go to the temple.  I think I had this one on last year's list too, but I've decided Shawn and I are going to have to take turns because its not easy getting to go at the same time!
5. Try and make 100 blog posts.  I know it may sound dumb but I love being able to look back on the funny things that were done or said over the years and the more I blog the more I have of them.
Alright here's to hoping this year will turn out better than last year!

7 Years

Shawn and I celebrated our anniversary last week.  And of course we pulled out all the stops and went to a movie the day before and then had left overs on our anniversary and had some mini molten cakes for dessert.  I know we should probably slow down and take a break from all the fun.  Its ok we're boring and we know it.  It was just nice to spend some time together.  Honestly a quiet night at home is a great time for us!  Happy Anniversary Shawn! I love you!

Christmas 2011

Well I didn't make it to 100 posts last year but I'm about to put up a few so maybe I'll be able to do it this year.  We had a great Christmas this year.  Shawn was off which was fabulous but we also had all the Funks with us which made it even better.  I only got pictures of Christmas morning but I at least wanted to give a few highlights of what we did.
1.Family pictures, made me realize I really need a haircut, and some new make up.
2. Gingerbread houses a blast as usual.
3. A few trips to the Adventure Science Center.
4. A trip to the Hermitage.  I missed out on most of it since all my kids wanted to do was run around in the grass or tromp through the flower beds.
5. Family dinner at Maggiano's then dessert at our house.  We managed to hide most of the mess from the house in our bedroom in just enough time.
We had a great time with all our Funk relatives and are so grateful everyone was willing to come see us for Christmas.

Waking the kids up to go downstairs.

Graham needed a little convincing.

The ritual picture at the top of the stairs.

Giving some love.

Caroline was very patient and let us take a picture first, they boys were not as patient.

Devin was so excited about Cars 2 he couldn't even stop for a picture.

Boys

My boys have been full on boys today.  One minute I want to pull my hair out and the next I can't stop laughing and sometimes I want to do both at the same time.  Here are just a few of the things they have done today so you have an idea of how crazy they are.
1.At Kroger Graham stuck is bare foot in Devin's face and knocked his glasses off and they fell under the shelving so I got to get down on all fours and pull them out of the nastiness that is under grocery store shelves.
2. At Staples Devin and Graham decided I was a pole and ran around me in circles until one of them fell over.
3. At Walgreens Graham laid down on his stomach and spun around on the floor like a top.  Eww!
4. Also at Walgreens Devin saw Graham pick up some candy or something and said, "Forget about it Graham." The lady next to me even started laughing at this one.
5. At the post office Devin found the lock on the automatic door and attempted to lock us all in there.  Thankfully he was unsuccessful.
6. On the way home from Target Graham took off his shoe and sock and started kissing his toes because they hurt.
And that was just today!  Thinking back on the day I can't stop laughing and realize I really shouldn't take the kids on so many errands but there is not much I can do when Shawn is on call.  I just hope these boys ease up on the craziness at they get older or I'm going to be gray by next year!
