Too much?

There are a few things I don't like about Caroline's school.
1. They ask for money ALL THE TIME!  It seems like every week I get a note from the school asking for donations for some reason or another.  They also have local businesses donate 10% of their sales for certain days to the schools and they encourage us to go spend money there.  It just really bugs me.  Anyways onto the next reason.
2. The amount of work they have the students do seems a little ridiculous.  At least for Caroline's age.  She has had several projects so far this year which haven't been so bad but the one she brought home this week seemed like a bit too much for a 5 year old.  She is supposed to make a free standing sculpture using 2 flat shapes and 4 solid shapes.  She is then supposed to write how it was made and what shapes were used and also describe the shapes and how many shapes were used.  Seriously? Am I crazy or is this a lot for someone that age?

i agree that is too much. i don't think kids should have homework at all until at least 3rd grade. and even then, just a little bit. just my professional opinion.

Let them be kids for awhile. They learn so much just exploring.

Is that how schools are now? That sucks. I hated homework and for me it didn't even start until like 5th grade.

That does seem a little overboard! I guess I'd rather have them doing too much than too little!

Dominic's school is the same way. It seems like everyday they are asking for money.
