Nostalgia

Its been a really long week.  Shawn had a week of nights this past week, is on call today, I had to go to church an hour early today, and to top it off I found my first white hair.  Not gray, WHITE.  I just about cried.  So now the kids are in bed and my house is semi clean so to cheer me up I took a look at some old pictures that we almost lost when our hardrive crashed a few months ago.   Nothing like cute baby pictures to cheer me up!  I think I may have made the cutest kids ever.

This is Graham's favorite place to play, not my favorite however.

Almost four years later and this picture still makes me laugh, I love the crazy look in her eye, best picture ever.

I am SO excited to visit my family soon.  I really miss having these girls together.  I don't even remember what we did everyday but I miss it.

Sweetest boy ever made.  Tonight he came up to me and said, "mommy I'm tired can we go home."  He loves to sleep, which may explain why he's so stinkin' big!

These two may have their moments of, "you're not my friend anymore." and "I"m never going to play with you ever again." But really they're best buddies and get so excited to see each other if they've been apart for a few hours.  And I still can't get over how big Devin's head looks.

He may be a little crazier than he used to be but I've never wanted to squeeze and snuggle a baby so much.  I love my baby Graham!
They're not babies anymore but I love looking at how little they used to be and wishing they would stop growing for just a day.

Oh the things kids say

We've had a pretty great day here.  These kids get funnier everyday.  Now if you don't think this is funny I won't be offended because I"m a pretty big dork and I think most of the words that come out of my kiddos mouths are hilarious.  So when we were deciding what game to play Caroline suggested Candy Land but Devin wanted to play Chutes and Ladders (toy story version).  I think both of them are about the dumbest games ever made so I let Caroline have her pick.  In response to finding out we were playing Candy Land Devin said, "No I wanted to play Woody Land."
Caroline is way too ready to grown up.  She is constantly talking about what she is going to be when she grows up.  She's narrowed it down to a doctor, engineer, and a teacher.  Today she started talking about what she is going to do with her kids when she is a mom.  I asked her what fun things she is going to do with them and she said, "The same stuff you do."  It made me feel really good that she thinks our days are fun b/c I'll be honest we've been having lots of stay inside and use your imagination while I clean days.  Anyways she also discussed her discipline tactics with me.  She told me that when her kids do bad things they will have time outs on the stairs but when they do things like bang on the doors she'll just have the daddy come upstairs.  In case you were wondering Caroline has a problem banging on her door when she's throwing a fit in her room I usually try to get her to stop but there's nothing like a 6 ft 3 in daddy to put just the right amount fear into a four year old. (don't worry we don't beat our children or really even spank Shawn is just better at getting through to her)
Poor little Graham hasn't been mentioned lately so I'll let you know what he's up to.  He's busy being the cutest baby EVER.  I seriously think I could squeeze him all day.  He likes to blow on his food before eating it and LOVES to run to the garage door when he hears Shawn come home.  I love it.  He's a bit of a daddy's boy.

I"m a fool

What was I thinking when I said 1 o'clock church was going to be awesome?  It's horrible!  My kids go crazy afterwards.  They're hungry, sleep deprived, and over stimulated, a wicked combination for lots of tantrums.  Like tantrums over alarm clocks, lost blankets, and kisses that Devin can't see.  Yes you read that right and I don't understand how he can see kisses either but whatever, five kisses later and he's finally asleep.  Luckily by some miracle Graham was able to fall asleep amidst the screaming and is actually spread eagle in his crib.  Sundays do have a few positive sides though, Devin gave his first talk in primary today and it was the cutest thing I've ever seen.  So I guess Sundays aren't all bad.

Drama, drama

The other night when I was putting Caroline to bed she burst into tears because we hadn't done her reading lesson.  The conversation went a little like this.
Caroline:  "Mommy we have to do my lesson NOW!"
Me:  "Caroline I'm way too tired to do your lesson don't worry about it we'll just do it tomorrow and maybe  even do two."
Caroline:  "No we have to do it now."  (she's bawling at this point)
Me: "Settle down its not that big of deal.  What are you so sad about?"
Caroline:  "I"m going to forget everything unless we do my lesson now!"
Apparently she thought she was going to forget everything she had learned and would never know how to read unless we did her lesson at that very moment. Luckily I was able to calm her down by telling her that she wouldn't forget everything and most kids her age don't know how to read yet.  I'm glad she's so anxious to learn but wow she can be a bit dramatic at times!

I LOVE Primary!

Wanna know why?  Because they provide free babysitting.  Ok not really but Friday night Caroline and Devin had a primary activity and since we would be down two kids for and hour and a half Shawn and I went out to dinner.  It was awesome!  And really Graham was so content trying to eat his crayon it was like we didn't have any kids with us.  I knew having kids really close together would pay off someday!  More importantly Caroline and Devin had a great time eating pizza and learning about the scriptures.  So pretty much we love primary in this house!

Snow, Snow and more Snow

That has been the story of my life this week.  We've had snow everyday this week and I am now officially ready for spring.  It is COLD!  The high for the today was 25 and tomorrow its 27.  Yuck.  And what really makes me hate snow is that I have to shovel my stupid long steep driveway so I don't have to park on the street.  Shoveling snow is the horrible, and awful.  I'd rather poke my eyes out with hot metal toothpicks, just kidding, but really its not fun and I'm so ready for it to warm up here! Its a good thing we didn't move somewhere colder because I'm a big baby when it comes to cold weather!
