DC Trip 2011

Remember a while ago I posted about how Shawn had a conference in Chicago and I really wanted to go.  Well Shawn thought that instead of me going with him I should just go visit my sister in DC.  I was SO excited when he proposed the idea and had so much fun with Poodle this weekend.  I must admit I didn't take a ton of picture but that's because we were too busy having a BLAST!  Here's a quick run down of what we did.
Thurs. Eat at the Chart House.  Soo good and I realize I'm not a huge fan of Lobster but love crab!

Fri. Watch Poodle give her exams and meet lots of people she works with (who are great by the way)
Go get facials and massages and realize that the woman giving them was a spawn of Satan becuase          only a child of the Devil would want to inflict that kind of pain on someone!  The facial hurt SO bad!  But we laughed a lot about it afterwards.  Then my favorite part we went kayaking on the Potomac River.  I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time.  Poodle and I are hilarious, and I am TERRIBLE at kayaking!  Later we ate delicious cupcakes and watched planes land at Reagan airport.

Sat.  We went to the Bullis graduation and when I say we I mean I sat in the library and Poodle went.  Turns out I'm not important enough to get a ticket to go.  Then lunch or brunch because its fancier.  Then we walked around and saw most of the memorials.  We walked for 3 1/2 hours and didn't see them all.  And we realized that Poodle and I share brainwaves because we kept on reading each others thoughts.  All in all the best vacation ever!  Here are some pictures.

Pictures really don't do it justice.  My favorite the capital!  So beautiful and HUGE!

The Washington Monument.  I kept thinking holy cow everything is so big!

The White House we were to lazy to get any closer.

The Lincoln memorial.  And in the back are about 100 safety patrol kids, I guess it was their field trip day or something.   We also rode the metro, saw naked men riding bikes (no I'm not kidding) watched Gilmore Girls, graded papers (actually fun) and stayed up late (well late for me) and conquered the universe!  I can't wait to go back!  There is so much I didn't get to see.  Hopefully I'll be returning in the next year or two!  Thanks Poodle for feeding me and making me laugh so much I hurt and thanks to Shawn for giving me the push to go and taking such good care of the kids.

Sounds like you had a blast. A vacation away from kids must be so nice. Too bad there wasn't enough time for us to get together. That would of been fun.
