My sweet little girl turned six this weekend. She had free reign to choose the activities for the day. So we started the day at the Adventure Science Center and ran around for a while. Then we went to her favorite restaurant Cory's Dog House. Love it! Then we went home for some Mario Cart and had her best friend over. So they painted some butterflies made blanket forts and ran around outside. After that miss Caroline opened her presents and ate cake. We ended the day by reading her awesome new books. She had a great day and even confessed it was more fun than she thought it would be. Good thing she has low expectations. We love our Caroline and I'm so glad she had a good day. I'll do anything for my sweet girl!
Hanging out with Annabeth.
She wanted strawberry cake again this year but I tried a new recipe this year and we loved it! I know the writing kind of stinks, oh well.
Here is the birthday girl. At least that's what Devin kept calling her. He's cute.
Trying on some new clothes.
Now I know most of you have heard Caroline's birth story but I don't think I ever wrote it down so this can be the end of the post for those of you who've heard it before. Yes I still think my doctor was completely incompetent and this may be a little hazy Shawn is convinced I've blocked most of what happened out of my memory because it was traumatic for me, he may be a little bit right. Two days before Caroline was born I had my 33 week Dr.'s appointment. I had been having contractions but didn't know it because I had never had a baby and didn't know what they felt like (and I was a little dumb). So I told my Dr I had been having lower back pains that were coming and going. So he told me to put a heating pad on my back and I'd be fine. What an IDIOT! Aren't doctors supposed to know what contractions are? So that night I had lots of contractions but because I still had 7 weeks left I didn't want to be the dumb girl who went to the hospital in false labor, so Shawn and I decided to wait and see how long the contractions lasted and how far apart they were. For about an hour after that I laid on our bed in the fetal position while Shawn did homework and had 1 minute contractions every 5 minutes. Still not convinced I was in labor I read some of my pregnancy book and then decided maybe we should go to the ER. We got there and they sent us up to labor and delivery and had a nurse come check me to see if I was in labor. I was at a 4 and still having contractions so yup I was in labor. My Dr. wanted to slow down my labor and only thing that worked was an epidural. So for the next two days, or maybe it was less its really blurry at this point, I stayed in the hospital while they gave me drugs to help Caroline's lungs develop. After the drugs had run their course my doctor turned off the epidural to let me go back into labor and they would turn it back on later. So I'm in active labor again and the nurse tells me I can push but holy cow it hurts. They keep on asking if its just pressure or pain and it felt like a lot of pressure so I thought I was fine. I was not fine I thought I was going to throw up and when they told me not to push I wanted to punch them in the face. There was no way I could keep myself from pushing. Finally the stupid doctor (who turned out to be the same one that told me I needed to stop gaining so much weight and made me cry) came in and asked if I could feel him poke me. When I screamed he realized my epidural didn't work and I was unknowingly going natural. So I was a bit of an idiot too but I'd never had a baby before I didn't know how these things went. I thought everyone felt like I did. Anyways my doctor gave me something to help with the pain and Caroline came out screaming which was a huge relief to me. They laid her on me for about 2 seconds before rushing her to the NICU. She was so tiny and cute and I of course started crying like the big baby I am. But it was the best feeling in the world to have her with us. I love Caroline so much and I'm so glad she came early to meet us! I love my sweet girl! Happy birthday!

Wow! I never realized Caroline was born that early, or that you had to do NICU! I'm sure you told me at the time, but that kind of thing doesn't really register till you have a baby and get what a big deal that would be! Glad it all worked out well in the end. :) ]
Happy Birthday Caroline! You are going to be such a sweet flower girl! You're the best!
