A birthday, a bundt, and "nice" cookies

Last week at church a sign up sheet went around to bring desserts to a open house we had at the church last night.  When someone announced what we were supposed to bring a woman read out, "We are assigned to bring a bundt cake or two dozen nice cookies."  Then the woman stopped reading and said, "I'm not sure what nice cookies are but just do your best."  I don't know why but that really bugged me.  I have no problem signing up for stuff but its my opinion if you are asking people to do things for you, you should be grateful and not be nit picky about how its done.  If you want to make sure you have "nice" cookies go out and buy them yourself.   In objection to the request I decided to make a cake instead.  Then yesterday I got an email reminding me to bring my two dozen cookies or two cakes to the church by a certain time.  I only made one cake and was not willing to make another so I had to break down and make cookies.  So much for sticking it to them.
Anyways after all that was done I got to finish making my friends birthday cake.  I was very happy with the way it turned out but really sad I missed the party because we had a dinner for the departing residents the same night.  I would have loved to have a slice.

I still need to work on my writing skills but not too bad.

You're awesome! Wish you lived closer! I'm sure your cookies were better than "nice."

WHAT?!?! I almost didn't believe you made that cake. It looks totally professional but I bet it tastes even better. I need to come take pictures of your food!

You seriously should go into the professional bakery business. You are amazing! I just bought adorable missionary cookies from "the sugar cookie lady". Seriously - open shop lady!

Kind of a lot to ask some one to bring 2 cakes, right? But on the upside your cake looks professional.
